CHRL summer pop-ups and events
CHRL (or the COVID + Health Resource Library) is ready for summer! This page will be updated with information about pop-ups and events as they’re scheduled this season.
June 26: Open Studios pop-up
For those in Southeast Portland (or for folx willing to venture this direction), CHRL’s next pop-up will be part of APANO’s Open Studios event on Friday, June 26 from 4-8pm.
The address is 8188 SE Division St (cross street: SE 82nd). You can stop by just for supplies OR stay and take part in Open Studios and Urban Floristry’s collaboration.
As a recap, Open Studios is a free mask-required BIPOC affinity third space to make art, explore creativity, and cultivate connections. It is all-ages, open-ended, and drop-in style.
- The event is on the ground floor and ADA-accessible.
- Bathrooms are single-stall and all gender.
- While Open Studios is a mask-required event, people may unmask to eat in between, as snacks will be available.
- An air purifier will be running next to the CHRL table.
- There is no onsite parking — limited street parking is available nearby in the residential neighborhood.
- Open Studios is directly on bus line 72 and about a block away from bus line 2. The MAX Green Line stops about 15 minutes away.
- Open Studios often photographs their events and has opt-out stickers for those wanting to stay off camera.
July 11: supporting Ori Gallery
Are you closer to Northeast Portland? Our friends at Ori Gallery will be tabling at the Mississippi Street Fair on Saturday, July 11 from 10am-8pm and have a station set up with COVID PPE. Stop by to learn about their work and to grab some free masks, including strapless Readimasks supplied by CHRL.

To check out items from CHRL’s library, we ask that you sign up as a member. It’s free and optionally lets you designate someone to pick up or return things on your behalf. We have sign up forms in person too if you’d prefer to fill things out via pen and paper.
Where else should CHRL be?
If you’re part of a community organization serving disabled BIPOC or know of mask-required / mask-encouraged events that CHRL could table at (especially if they’re outdoors), please get in touch!
Since Affect the Verb is a grassroots nonprofit with no actual staff, we are purposely keeping CHRL small to start and thinking intentionally about how to grow sustainably. If our work resonates with you and you’d like to support us, donations would be incredibly helpful and appreciated! Plus, as we are now an independent 501c3, your gifts are tax-deductible.
