Who’s eligible
The person you’re nominating should be:
- 18 years of age or older
- A multiply marginalized person of color
- Living in Oregon
- Working within their own community
Multiply marginalized: in addition to racial inequality, they experience marginalization through gender, sexual orientation, disability or chronic illness (including mental illness), and/or religion.
How this works
- If there are more nominees than available awards, we will prioritize new awardees, Black and Indigenous people, disabled folx, and people with non-traditional backgrounds.
- Awards are sent on a rolling basis, as long as we still have funds and the eligible nominee accepts.
-
Nominees become awardees when they send an email acceptance and provide payment information, including a completed W-9.
- Our fiscal sponsor, the Autistic Women & Nonbinary Network, can process payments through ACH (electronic bank transfer) or mail checks.
- Nominees can accept the award privately or choose to be part of public announcements.

Frequently asked questions
-
I’m the person nominating someone else. What should I expect?
You should get an automated email confirming the nomination, and we’ll post an overall Community Care Awards update by April 2025.
-
Can I nominate an organization or group instead of a person?
The Community Care Awards are only open to individuals, as it’s ultimately always people providing the care.
-
Can I help expand the reach of this fund?
Donations are always welcome. With funds processed through our fiscal sponsor, there’s a slight delay between donations going through and us being notified. If you want to add an award to this cycle, please reach out and we’ll see what we can coordinate!
-
Is this award considered taxable income?
Yes, at this time, the Community Care Awards are considered taxable income. If this is a problem for the nominee, please let us know and we can explore different options.
